The Landscape
This landscape is located in the Ashanti and Bono East regions of Ghana. The landscape covers six districts and has a total land size of approximately 4,396.1 km2. All these political districts are under the Offinso Forest District with 9 forest reserves managed by the Forestry Commission. The forest-savannah transitional belt of Ghana has always been referred to as the food basket of the country, with agricultural activities as the main socio-economic activity of the people. The structure of the local economy is skewed towards agriculture, which employs about 76% of the landscape’s population.The landscape under consideration is made up of 3 districts( Offinso North, Techiman North and Nkoranza North)and 3 municipal assemblies (Offinso South, Techiman South , Nkoranza South) Offinso Municipal is composed of Voltarain, Birimian, and Ceranite rock formations.
